A little letterpress shop with a big history and even bigger ego. In her shop in historic downtown McMinnville Oregon, owner and printer Chelsey Nichol uses her background in commercial printing and lifelong love of paper and ink to provide customers with custom pieces that will be just as much fun to order as to receive.

When did you start letterpress printing?: 
What do you like best about letterpress printing?: 
The actual printing. I love the noise my press makes, I love mixing ink, I love getting new orders of paper, I love the feel of the impression in the paper.
What inspires you?: 
I'm inspired by the history of my press in my family business. I am always thinking about printers before me and the conversations I wish I could have with them. I am inspired by the amazing designs I see others creating, because it fuels my desire to be better.
Which press(es), ink & paper do you usually use?: 
I have a 1923 new style Chandler and Price. I stock and normally print on Crane Lettra paper, but have printed on coaters, card board and specialty papers. I use Van Son and Gans inks.
How would you describe your artwork?: 
I do mostly custom printing for clients using their artwork. I am in the process of developing my own card line that will reflect my modern, fun style.
What kind of products do you create?: 
Business and personal stationary, notecards, coasters, packaging, custom wood type prints.

I had great people who helped me get started, but on going questions about materials would have been nice.
