One - me !
About:
The Printmonkey Press is based in a tiny studio space, on the northern outskirts, of Bristol, England. I currently produce and sell cards, small posters, and now handmade books. My first book 'A walk in winter', a small work featuring a series of woodcuts, was created early in 2011. I am now working on my second book 'A trip to Valletta' and I am expecting to have this completed by the end of this year.

Interview with Ian from The Printmonkey Press
When did you start letterpress printing?:
I started letterpress printing in 2008, after buying an Adana Five-Three desktop press
What do you like best about letterpress printing?:
For me, Letterpress provides the perfect tonic to a 9 to 5 office job - the ability to physically interact with type to produce a printed book or poster is immensely satisfying and theraputic.
What inspires you?:
Lots of things really - I am particularly inspired by the work of traditional UK-based presses such as The Whittington Press and the Old Stile Press, both fairly local to where my studio is based. I am also very inspired by post-revolution soviet artwork, and the work of graphic designer David Carson.
Which press(es), ink & paper do you usually use?:
I use a Stephenson Blake Model '0' proofing press for my letterpress work. This has a total bed size of 12 by 16 inches which is ample for my requirements at the moment. I still hope to get hold of a Vandercook one day ! I also use an old victorian Book Press for printing linocut and woodcut images.
What kind of products do you create?:
I am concentrating on creating books at the moment, but I also create posters and the all-important Christmas cards once a year !
Do you offer custom work?:
no
Where can we buy your products?:
via my website printmonkeypress.co.uk
Do you offer workshops? If yes, what kind of?:
No
