Interview with Wojciech from Pan Bon Ton
When did you start letterpress printing?:
2007 (2012 as PanBonTon)
What do you like best about letterpress printing?:
Touch of paper, smell of ink, steady sound of the runnig machine, and all the cons criticized by the modern polygraphs: it's outdated, slow and imprecise. We are just loving it!
What inspires you?:
Good old school, 18th century typesetting and graphic design of the 20s' and 30s'.
Which press(es), ink & paper do you usually use?:
Our main press is "La Triomphante" manufactured in 1906 by Carabin-Shildknecht Foundry in Bruxelles. We usually print with organic inks from Eple. And we use very diverse range of papers.
What kind of products do you create?:
Cards, business- and visiting cards, coasters, callendars, invitations and stationery, envelopes, CD-covers... etc.
Do you offer custom work?:
yes
Do you offer workshops? If yes, what kind of?:
We offer individual workshops, as we are open for anyone who wants to print with movable type on our boston platen. Occasionally we share our small desktop Adana at our stand during the events we take part.
