Vici-Jane and Richard from
When did you start letterpress printing?:
Started dabbling at the age of 14, volunteering at a local Victorian Printers
What do you like best about letterpress printing?:
The frustration, which eventually leads to an immensly rewarding feeling - A perfect print.
What inspires you?:
We are based in the countryside, and this is certainly reflected in our design work and paper choices. What we do could certainly be described as "rustic". You can take inspiration from the strangest things, one of our wedding stationery ranges was inspired by an old whiskey bottle, another from our own herb garden.
Which press(es), ink & paper do you usually use?:
We use Adana 8 X 5's, an Arab Treadle Press and a Heidelberg Windmill. We use a huge variety of papers, from rough recycled Cairn boards, though to Indian cotton rag papers. To get a deep impression, the squishier the better.
How would you describe your artwork?:
Our artwork is fun and whimsical, with a dash of "vintage" to boot.
What kind of products do you create?:
We can design and print pretty much anything. 90% of what we do is wedding stationery, we like to do batches of greeting cards, poster prints and corporate stationery also.
Do you offer custom work?:
Where can we buy your products?:
Do you offer workshops? If yes, what kind of?:
Not yet, but something we'd consider for the future.
Is there anything you wished you had known as a beginner?:
That Polymer plates are just as good as magnesium!
